USPE Championships - Avila, Spain 27th-31st July 2009
USPE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 The Police Sport UK Swimming Team competed in the 13 th USPE European Police Championships in Avila, Spain from the 27th to the 31st July.
The team consisted of 17 competitors with supporting management. All members of the team acquitted themselves with distinction. The level of competition was extremely high with 28 European police forces attending,with the PSUK team acheiving 5th place in the medal table.
Highlight of the championship must go to Aimee Ramm (Leicestershire). Aimee won silver in the women's 100 metres freestyle and bronze medals in both the 50 metres freestyle and the 100 metres butterfly. Aimee was also a member of the women's 4 x 100 metres medley relay team that won bronze.
The competition was dominated by the larger countries of Germany and Ukraine. The full results for the event have yet to be published but the GB team had great strength in depth with team members gaining final places across many events.
