Triangular Tournament - HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth 13th July 2009
In their first event representing the British Police at the Triangular Tournament at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth on 13th July 2009, the team's new divers Sonya Edwards (British Transport Police) and Gemma Pearson (Essex Police) recorded a stunning victory in both the ladies Springboard and Firmboard categories.
Against strong opposition from the Combined Services team and the Civil Service, it was clear that the Springboard competiton would be close, and so it was with the Police team opening up a small lead in the 5th round of dives to take the category by only 24 points.
The Firmboard seemed more clear-cut from the beginning, with the Police stretching into an early lead in the opening rounds and continuing to pull off some good dives later on, stretching their winning margin to almost 60 points.
The diving team were unrepresented in the Men's events and it was therefore the Combined Services who took maximum points forward to the Water Polo and Swimming events, however the performance of our ladies was excellent and has earned them an invite to the Comined Services Diving Competition later in the year.
